At Sign It, we always give 110% to assure that you will receive high quality products. In order to do so, we require your files to be prepared correctly, as we can only produce what has been given to us.
Ideally, we would like to receive “.tif” files for bitmap images (photos etc.) and “.ai” or “.eps” files for vectorized files (anything outlined, drawn graphics etc.). These will give you “hands down” the best quality possible. If you do combine vector (text etc.) and bitmap file in a layout, make sure that you include ALL the files you place in the layout AND that you outline the fonts… if you miss out on either step, we will run into problems and get error messages and, as a result, will not be able to print your graphics.
The programs from which we prefer files are:
Adobe Illustrator (up to CS6), Adobe Photoshop (up to CS6), Adobe Acrobat and some conversion from programs such as Corel Draw, which have the ability to save “.eps” files.
The programs of which we CAN use the files with limitations are:
Quark Express, Adobe In-Design MAC ONLY!
Keep in mind that these programs were never intended for Large Format output and as such bear potential for problems, such as sizing, ratios etc. You should not use either of these if the final file size exceeds 48” x 48”. And, once again, MAKE SURE THAT ALL FONTS AND SUPPORT FILES ARE INCLUDED when submitting the files!
The programs of which we CAN NOT use the files are:
Adobe PageMaker, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Publisher, Excell, Powerpoint etc.
Do NOT use graphics you downloaded from the internet… these graphics are only intended for viewing on your computer, not for output on printers… the quality will be very poor. As a rule of thumb, if you prepare a file that you want to be printed at 24” x 36” in photo-realistic quality, the file size should equal about 165 dpi at final size… in this case the file would be 90 MB. Keep in mind when creating and/or scanning images.
Make sure ALL fonts are outlined, when you save the file for submission and make sure that there are no hidden layers or locked layers in which fonts could be residing… we will get error messages from those as well. If you do have questions, feel free to call us and we will assist you with preparing your file for us.
